Christmas Plans at The Allen Zoo

Hi everyone,

Well, I decided to join the world of the bloggers. Since I really hate talking on the phone, and I do enjoy typing this may be a good way to update anyone who cares about Steve's and my life down here in TX. I'll also include any information about the three boys and the fur kids.

This week we're both busy with getting things done for Christmas. Steve hopefully will get off early Friday and then has Monday & Tuesday off for Christmas Holiday and then the following Monday for New Years Day. I'm busy baking a lot (that's what I always do at Christmas). I hope to send some to Chad in CA and Mom Osborn in MI. It probably won't make it for Christmas but they can munch on it during the week between the holidays. I have already made 12 mini loaves of banana bread, a double batch of Caramel Pecan Fudge, white bark with peppermint and wintergreen bits & white bark with almonds. I still need to make some other kinds of fudge, bread & cookies. There should be plenty to take to Diane & Jim's on Christmas Day when we join them for Dinner. There are still many presents to wrap. I have sent Chad's and Mom Osborn's already and they should receive them on Friday.

Plans for Christmas are kind of quiet. Saturday the 23rd, Shaun will be stopping by in the morning, he is up here from New Braunfels for the weekend and we are looking forward to seeing him, it's been a few months. Sunday, Christmas Eve, Shelby and his fiancee Lori will be coming by in the late afternoon and after opening a few presents, the four of us are heading up to Oklahoma to do a bit of gambling at the new casino there. Monday we will head over to Diane's home to give the nephews their gifts and have a turkey dinner with them. We'll probably play a couple of games and then come home and crash. Sometime during the long weekend, maybe Tuesday, we would like to go to the IMAX and see "The night at the museum". I've never been to an IMAX and think that would be a great movie to see the first time.

Mom & Dad Steiniger and Steve's brother Scott will be coming up Wednesday the 27th and then head up to St. Louis on Friday the 29th for the big Steiniger Christmas. We'll be keeping Pixie, their Yorkie, for the days they are there. Then they will be back at our house probably the following Wednesday after New Years.

Our fur kids are doing great. Mandy is 7 1/2 yrs now and seems to have a bit of arthritis in her hips. She runs and plays but once she lays down, she has a hard time getting up again. Capri is just about a teenager in bird years, 5 1/2 in ours and someday's she is wonderful and others she just wants to bite me. She talks quite a bit now and likes to scream when someone is visiting and they don't expect it. Shadow will be 5 on Feb 4th and is as neurotic as ever. He sure is beautiful though. Then there is Sadie, she's about 13 weeks old now and full of the devil. She's loving one minute and curled up on me and the next she's running through the house, climbing up in the Christmas tree, jumping up on a table where she doesn't belong or attacking one of the dogs. She's not afraid of anything.

The past week was beautiful here, it was blue skies and 75 - 78 degrees. Yesterday, it turned cold, 54 - 60 and was dark and dreary with a mist of rain all day. My dad would have said it was "the drizzling s_ _ ts".

That's all for today, probably won't post more until after Christmas so you all have a MERRY CHRISTMAS!
